You may want to have custom images for specific parts of your organisation. For example, you may want to customise your courses' dashboard card and header banner, or add your branding to the login and dashboard areas. However, sometimes the image doesn't show the right parts or requires further adjustments in order make specific portions more prominent.

Instead of modifying and reuploading the image to get the positioning correct, you can adjust the focal point to show the desired area. Currently, focal point adjustment is only available for the following images:

  • Dashboard
  • Course dashboard card
  • Course header

First, navigate to the image field that you wish to adjust and ensure that an image has been uploaded and saved. Next, click SET FOCAL POINT. This will bring up the "Set image focal point" modal. In this example, we will use the course's dashboard image.

The red dot indicates the current focal point. By default, this will be placed in the image's centre. To alter the focal point's location, click the image and the red dot will automatically be placed at that point. Once you are satisfied with the new location, click SAVE.

Now return to the page where the image is visible to regular users. The area around the new focal point will be shown to the user.
